Why We Love Rowan Felted Tweed
Felted Tweed is a blend of wool, alpaca and viscose. It has a slightly rustic look with a soft feel, and one of its special qualities is its durability. Sweaters we knit over 5 years ago look as good as new, with little evidence of pilling or wear.
And did you know all 8 designs, in Marie Wallin’s quintessential Bloomsbury Collection, (see Vanessa and Dora below), are knit in Rowan Felted Tweed. These patterns, previously only available in book form, can now be purchased as digital pdfs on Ravelry and Lovecrafts,
As well, a few of Marie Wallin’s accessory patterns, including the Georgia Tam shown below, are available free on Ravelry and Lovecrafts.
Rowan Felted Tweed made its debut in 2002 with just 12 shades. Today, 21 years later, it has stood the test of time as a yarn with the perfect combination of texture, softness, colour choice and durability. Now available in an amazing palette of 56 shades (Rowan colour palettes are always the best!), we happily recommend this yarn for projects calling for a sport or dk weight yarn (we've even knit it at worsted gauge with great results; see our Worsted Boxy version below, with details here on our Ravelry Project Page).
You can browse the Felted Tweed colour palette here on our online shop and have fun planning projects. You can also see some of the things we've made in Felted Tweed on our Ravelry Project page here. Enjoy knitting with this beautiful yarn!
