And if you haven’t seen Vivian Hoxbro’s “Wing Shawl”, do have a look at our beautiful shop sample (unfortunately we have to return it to Harrisville next week, but it’s in our queue for knitting). The shawl design uses the shadow knitting technique—alternating rows of light and dark create subtle changes in pattern and colour depending on the angle from which it is viewed. The yarn, a true dyed-in-the-wool shetland, comes from Harrisville Mills, a New England spinnery that has been producing yarn since the 1700’s.
