This pencil jar cozy is a great project for teaching kids to knit. We got a start on making these this week with a class of 19 grade schoolers. Divide Noro Kureyon into 3 balls, approximately 16 g each. We use a kitchen scale and the kids learn to wind a ball, not as easy a task as you would think! Cast on 15 stitches using cable cast-on and the Waldorf knitting rhyme, then knit 40 rows (20 garter ridges). Bind off and sew the rectangle together. Finish off with a twisted cord. Fits perfectly over a small mason jar.
