Pattern: Elizabeth Zimmermann’s Baby Surprise Jacket
Yarn: Indigo Moon Hand-dyed Sport—one 225m skein each Autumn Haze and Silver Birch (used full skein Autumn Haze and half skein Silver Birch)
Needles: 4.25 – 4.5mm 24” Crystal Palace Bamboo Circulars
Notes: See this web link to understand how colour patterning works in this design; we finished shoulder seams with three-needle bind-off (makes a nice ridge that goes well with garter stitch); we worked only three button holes.
Pattern sizing: Change yarns to adjust infant/child sizing, e.g., fingering wt for small, sport for medium (just fits The Girl at 21 months, snugly like a shrug, photo to follow!), worsted for large. There’s also an adult version!
