Elizabeth Zimmermann’s beloved “February Sweater” can be found in this little gem of a book (along with 12 other ingenious projects, one for each month of the year).

“February” is the perfect baby sweater, and if you have the desire to knit for a wee one, this is at the top of our recommendation list. You can see Brooklyn Tweed’s version here and, if you’ve joined Ravelry, you can browse the 1186-ish other February projects here!

So, do you love this sweater? Can you imagine it “grown up”, mom-sized? Well, Flintknits has done just that, creating the February Lady Sweater, and a Ravelry Kal is spreading the word, working out little pattern glitches, and sharing inspiration for the knitting of this must-have cardigan.

Although we admit to having a few too many unfinished projects on board (sigh), we had to cast on for one more! So we knit up a swatch in Dream in Color Classy (it was so hard to choose a colour, but, with Sivia’s help, we finally settled on the yummy Chinatown Apple), and got garter stitch gauge after one needle change.

Here’s the start of the yoke (yes, top down, no seams!)

Yum, perfect yarn, perfect colour, perfect pattern (you’ll love the reversible one-row button hole).
