Lace knitter Alison Holley will be offering a Lace Basics class suitable for beginning lace knitters based on Sivia Harding's Confluence Shawlette.  If you’ve always wanted to knit lace but thought it was too difficult, this is the class for you!  The sides and borders of Sivia's shawlette are knit in simple garter stitch, while the center panel and edging offer the challenge of elegant lace with optional beading.  You will learn how to read a lace chart, create simple lace stitches, recognize and correct mistakes, place beads with a crochet hook (optional) and block a lace project. Alison knit her class sample using one skein of Sweet Georgia Tough Love Sock in the Mist colourway. The following materials are used for this project: Approximately  420 yards of fingering weight yarn, Addi Turbo Lace Circular Needles in size needed to obtain gauge (students will be swatching the lace patterns to determine desired needle size, approximate range 4 to 4.5 mm), stitch markers and Sivia Harding's Confluence pattern purchased here as a pdf download.   Optional:  6-0 seed beads and .6 mm crochet hook. Class Dates:   Friday evenings, 7-9 pm, November 19, 26, December 3 and 10. Call or stop by the shop for more details or to register.
